ThreeFourFive is a single-shell, flap-based, tubular structure designed to connect with multiple irregular planes. Starting from pure linework, the design is shaped through length-dependent relationships and physical-simulation modelling in order to achieve the overall flared forms. Several iterations and physical mock-ups were developed to test minimal curvature and warp-weft approaches to mesh stripping and fabrication as well as topological implications on female and male flap connections. A system of flexible ties connects overlapping ring strips in order to use the minimal amount of material while preserving the maximum possible rigidity. The final fabricated form consists of a total of 80 ring strips forming 10 tubes all neatly connected using flexible ties.
